Concept
Food contains nutrients that provide our bodies with many important substance that we need. They provide us with energy and also help control the way our body grow. Prior to the work of nutrients, food must be detached so that they can enter our body. This is called digestion. Good nutrition will also provide phytochemicals and antioxidants which make you feel young, look great, and even stay free from illness. Healthy diet should involve plenty of fruits and vegetables, some whole grains, high-quality protein, adequate dairy or other sources of calcium, and a little healthy fat.
Healthy diet in childhood paves the way for a healthy adulthood. A balanced diet is essential to repair and maintain bones, cartilage, ligaments, tendons and muscles. B vitamins, C, D, K and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, copper, zinc, iron and manganese are essential for healthy bones and connective tissue.
Good nutrition including the adequate and balanced diet is important for health. Malnutrition can cause an increased susceptibility to disease as the immunity system is weakened and failed to develop well.
